Recording equipment

ARAM ARIES II recording System (Canada)

The system designed to carry out 2D-3D seismic surveys and has a modular structure, i.e. consists of a central station and a set of independent and interchangeable RAM field modules. Each module is connected to a seismic cable, which contains 8 seismic channels. DT-25-11A hydrophones (depth from 1m) and SVG-6 geophones (depth up to 1m and on land) used as sensors. Information from seismic channels transmits by cable to a central recording station (CRS) and records on an electronic storage in the required format. Basic mode of the system operations is the real-time telemetry, i.e. information is transmitted to a central station immediately after each shot.

 Remote Acquisition Module, RAM, used to gather seismic data in analog form from seismic receivers with subsequent digitization and transfer to the Seismic Processing Module, SPM.

TAP communication module interconnects base lines and broadcasts data from RAM modules to a data processing module.
Maximum length of the receiver line - 132 km (2400 channels with 55m spacing, with a sample interval of 2 ms), for interline cable - 6000 channels.
The maximum distance between RAM modules - 656 m.
TAP interconnection module with built-in RAM provides interline connection of receiver lines.

Each receiver line requires one TAP module. TAP modules connect by a cable, which connect to a seismic station.

Main characteristics of the central recording system

  • Management Control and Quality Control

    Seismic Processing Module, SPM, uses to control field equipment and peripheral devices that are  the components of the central ARIES equipment.

    ARAM ARIES II Recording equipment

    SPM is based on two processors 2.0 GHz Pentium 4 XEON (5300 series), 16 GB of RAM; and PCI-X back-plane bus. Two QUAD ports support up to 2400 channels.
    Operator’s interface is based on Windows XP operating system. The interface supports up to 5 monitors with a maximum resolution up to 1920×1200.
    SPM includes 2 storages on hard disk drives SATA 1 TB (including two RAID-1 data set), Blu-ray (BD-R, BD-RE) & DVD ± R / RW-ROM.

ССТ-480/960 Telemetric cable & modular system for seismic exploration


The central station based on IBM PC Pentium II-300 controls digital modules and the system, seismic data recording and acquisition.

One ССТ section 300 meters long is equipped with one or two digital telemetric modules.

Digital telemetric module (DTM) (basic) provides analogue seismic data recording, gain, analog to digital conversion and transmission to the control console.
